Internships/Practicum The Columbia Blowfish are accepting resumes for internships/practicum for the 2010 season. The available positions are below. Additional Internship positions will be posted soon which will include Merchandising, Broadcast/Media, Baseball Operations . Ticket Office Internship 2010 (2) Mid May-Beginning August The Columbia Blowfish, member of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, are looking for an intern to fill the Tickets office intern position for the 2010 baseball season. This internship will allow an individual to experience the exciting field of professional sports. The individual in this position will be involved with many areas of the business, including tickets, souvenirs, concessions and more. Responsibilities include: · Game day and advance ticket sales · Run the computerized ticketing system and also run the ticket window during all home games · Report to the Director of Ticket Sales on a nightly basis. Preparing nightly reports for sales and/or attendance · There will be the opportunity to earn commission through group and sponsorship sales This person must possess good communication skills. Also great customer service a must. Also the intern should be ready to work in a fast pace environment and be willing to do any job that is asked of you within the front office. Must be currently be working to a degree, preferably geared to the sports field or a related field. Position will begin in Mid May 2010. Compensation: You will receive college credits for your hours of service. This internship will allow an individual to experience the exciting field of professional sports. The individual in this position will be involved with many areas of the business, including stadium operations, grounds keeping, game day operations, concessions and more. Responsibilities include: · Assist the Director of Stadium Operations with all on field preparation · Regular cleaning and maintenance of Capital City Stadium · Assist with game day contests and promotions as needed Qualifications: Must currently be working to a degree, preferably in sports or a related field. Person should possess good communication skills Be able to work long hour days Position will begin in May and go through the end of the season (early August). Compensation: Position will be for college credit. Concessions Internship 2010 (1) The Columbia Blowfish, member of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, are looking for a person to fill the Concessions Intern position for the 2010 season. This internship will allow an individual to experience the exciting field of sports. In this position, the person will be involved with many aspects of the concession stand and food service of a baseball stadium. Responsibilities will include: · Report directly to the Assistant General Manager · Assist in the daily operation of the BayBears concessions stands · Help with group events in our party tent. · Pre and post game field preparation. · Assist with concession inventory and ordering. · Assist in the game day start-up, operation and closing of the food and beverage stands. Qualifications: Individual should have good communication skills, customer service experience, be willing to work long hour days and be able to lift over 50 lbs. Prior food service experience is a plus. Must either retain a degree in sports or a related field or currently be working toward one. Position will begin in May of 2010 thru beginning of August 2010. Compensation: TBD. Position will be for college credit. Promotions Internship 2010 (4)------ One Spring Internship Open beginning in January 2010 The Columbia Blowfish, a member of the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League, are looking for a person or persons to fill the Promotions Intern position for the 2010 season. This internship will allow an individual to experience the exciting field of professional sports. The individual in this position will be involved with many areas of the business, including public relations, stadium operations, game day operations, on-field contests and more. Responsibilities include: · Assist in player/mascot appearances · Community liaison for promotional material · Assist with game day contests and promotions and/or press box operations · Assist in ticket operation · There will be the opportunity to earn commission through group and sponsorship sales Must currently be working to a degree. Position will begin in mid may and go through the end of the season (Beginning of August) Compensation: Position is for college credit. Broadcast Internship

The Columbia Blowfish are a baseball team comprised of college baseball players from all over the country including the University of South Carolina. The Blowfish compete in the Coastal Plain League and play 60 games from the end of May, June through July and the beginning of August, which will be broadcast live over the internet. The Blowfish are in need of two broadcasting interns who will be responsible for the following: - Pre/Post game set up of broadcasting equipment
- Play by play/commentary during all home games
- Create copy and produce commercials for advertisers to be read/run during the broadcast plus travel with team on specified road games to cover team for local media

The Coastal Plain League is the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league, heading into its twelfth season. Featuring 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, the CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with wooden bats during the summer months. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
