Zach Briggs hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Thurber, giving Thomasville a 1-0 lead. Thomasville made it 2-0 in the fourth when Chris McGuiness walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out error by Columbia second baseman Jason Coker. Columbia rallied in the seventh after Matt Williams walked and advanced to second after a fielding error by Hi-Toms' second baseman Wes Hobson. Williams then stole third and scored on a wild throw by catcher Richard Jones.
